Meet John and Susan Aschenbrenner.

 

John and Susan developed their interest in American Saddlebred horses more than 30 years ago when their children began taking riding lessons at Heartland Stables. The horses developed into a family activity when Susan and John joined the fun! As they became more involved with these beautiful horses, they became more deeply involved in the show community.

 

Some of Susan’s best known show ring partners include CH Callaway’s Queen of Crimson, WCC CH Callaway’s Cumulus, WC Ethereal Love and WC, RWCC Dreamacres Chapel Of Love, her current show partner. The current breeding program is focused on these outstanding mares: WC Ethereal Love and her two daughters, Dreamacres Love is Blue (Callaway’s Blue Norther x WC Ethereal Love) and Dreamacres Chapel Of Love (Tango’s Parting Kiss x WC Ethereal Love) and on a daughter out of CH Callaway’s Queen of Crimson - Dreamacres Strawberry Fields (by WC I’m First.)

 

Susan began volunteering in the industry serving on the Iowa Horse Shows Association Board for 26 years, The Iowa American Saddlebred Association, currently Vice President, American Saddlebred Futurity of Iowa, Director, and chaired the Des Moines Springfest Horse Show for 18 years in Iowa. She currently chairs the Charter Club Council, serves as Vice President of The American Saddlebred Versatility Association, the National Pleasure Horse Committee, Rules and Standards Committee, all for ASHBA.

 

The love of these horses led Susan and John, with their daughter Kristin, to develop their own breeding program and open their facility in 2008; Dreamacres LLC, located in the beautiful rolling hills of Cumming, Iowa, just south of Des Moines.
