Meet John and Susan Aschenbrenner.

John and Susan developed their interest in American Saddlebred horses nearly 25 years ago when their children began taking riding lessons at Heartland Stables in Grimes, IA. As their children got older, John and Susan were able to take on a more active role in riding and showing and began doing so themselves.

When their son completed his show career with a mare called CH Callaway's Queen of Crimson, Susan began showing the mare successfully in the Show Pleasure Driving Division. Her latest equine partner, WCC CH Callaway's Cumulus, is a 6x National Champion in the Country Pleasure Driving Division. Susan also competes with her Fine Harness mare, WC Ethereal Love. As John and Susan's involvement with American Saddlebreds grew, their passion for the breed did too.

Susan became an active volunteer and promoter of the American Saddlebred horse. Susan now serves as a Director of The American Saddlebred Registry. Through The American Saddlebred Horse Association, she is a member of The Charter Club Council and The Pleasure Horse Committee. She also serves as Vice President of The American Saddlebred Versatility Association (VERSA). She is a Director of The Iowa Horse Shows Association and chaired The Des Moines Springfest Horse Show until she retired her position in 2015. Susan's involvement with the American Saddlebred continues with her position as Vice President of The Iowa American Saddlebred Association.

It wasn't long after their heavy involvement with the breed that their love for the beauty of the American Saddlebred horse inspired John and Susan to give rise to Dreamacres in 2008. Today, their goal includes providing clients with outstanding equine partners that are raised in the beautiful rolling hills, just south of Des Moines.
